Manager O&M Container Terminal – Job Description 

Position & Location

Manager O&M Container Terminal

Role of the Position

  • The company undertakes various O&M contracts to manage Container Terminals and Handle Bulk Cargo at various industries and ports in India.
  • The Operations Manager will oversee various site operations & ensure complete SLAs are meet across sites assigned to him. He will be coordinate with site leadership/management & also with client leadership at site & HO. Will coordinate planning, management & ensure complete operations & engineering of multiple sites from HO.

Most important contribution and outcome needed from the position

Ensure proper day-to-day operations are carried with excellent performance as per service level agreements within budgetary limits without any IR / HR Issues at all sites assigned.

Primary Responsibilities

  1. To look after day-to-day operations through efficient reporting and communication systems.
  2. Ensure the complete coordination between client and HO Team. 
  3. Ensure manpower monitoring, Salary coordination and Performance Monitoring of SLA for all sites.
  4. Prepare Daily summery reports and on the process and discuss with the senior management.
  5. Handling client interaction and at a sophisticated level and resolve their issues.
  6. New contracts & Projects setup. Research, build, and organize manpower, equipment & material and manage teams as required.
  7. Direct reporting to MD.
  8. To maintain proper liaison and coordination with principal (port owner) for day-to-day operations & various issues.
  9. To prepare an annual budget and monitor the cost of operation and maintenance accordingly.
  10. To work out costings for tenders and quotations.
  11. Coordinating with HR department for timely payment of salaries, statutory compliances, performance management, rewards & recognitions.
  12. Determine staffing requirements, and interview, hire and train new employees, or oversee those personnel processes. 

Secondary Responsibilities

  1. Ensure proper IR at all locations by active liaison with local authorities and politicians etc.
  2. Ensure all safety HSEs compliances are met with and work is carried out with the highest safety standards.
  3. Carry out regular performance assessments of the team as per the SOP.
  4. General administration of all locations.
  5. Coordination of purchase for spares and consumables.

 Requisite skill & attributes

Functional :

  • Experience in managing manpower based Contracts Min 300 people.
  • Overall understanding of Operations & Maintenance (Engineering)
  • Proper understanding of costing and budget.
  • Local Language skill (ideal but not essential)
